Welcome. Here you will be able to find information about our club and our activities. Take a look at our latest newsletter. Look at the list of active members. Check out the club officers and send them an e-mail. You can download a membership form and peruse the Hunt Test Calendar which includes American Kennel Club (AKC) hunt test events scheduled in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Montana for the current year. Also you’ll find some useful links to web sites of interest to retriever dog owners, trainers and handlers. If you have suggestions for improving the site, send them to me.

While our club’s mission is centered on putting on annual hunt tests in May and August, our membership is varied. Some members are new to the idea of competitive hunt tests. Their membership is useful in meeting other people with the same interests and in making contacts with experienced trainers and owners and veteran handlers. Others are not interested in competitive events but want to train primarily for hunting, keeping both themselves and their dogs engaged throughout the year. We have several activities of interest for these members. See Other Events below.

However, most of our members are focused on training for the numerous AKC hunt tests held in the states of Washington and Oregon during the spring, summer and fall. Some of us are intent on qualifying for participation in the Master National Retriever Club hunt test held at the end of the summer or early in the fall. Our club hunt tests are traditionally held just east of Seattle at Pepper’s Hunting and Retriever Grounds south of Duvall on West Snoqualmie Road.

Other Events. Other club activities include a judge’s seminar held every two years; a members’ training day held in the spring; an annual pheasant hunt for the members financed by the proceeds from the annual banquet and auction; and an annual 10-Series open to all competitors.

The 10 Series event is comprised of 10 single marks which proceed from the basic to the more technical. All dogs are eligible for 5 marks regardless of how they perform; the last 5 marks are competitive. Ribbons are awarded for completing the event and for the three highest scores.

During hunting season things slow down and usually pick-up in the spring when we prepare for the first hunt test.
